Many are the reasons that should drive people to select and use leather for upholstery for their own furniture. One of the main reasons is for sure the high aesthetical impact of this solution. Among the features of leather produced for such use, in fact, we have to remember its great softness and elasticity. Elasticity is a critical prerequisite since leather has to fit surfaces that have various shapes. Scraps also can be cut much easily, since they have a quite reduced width, around 1,5 or 2 millimetres. Finally leather used to upholster pieces of furniture must possess a final critical prerequisite, which is its strength. Since furniture is presumed to last quite long over time, it becomes critical that it won't be easily ruined, with no lacerations.
Leather intended to be used for upholstery is normally the bovine one: as a matter of fact a whole large piece of calfskin is used. Sizes vary a lot but have to be anyway between thirty three and sixty six square feet. Leather can be used to upholster sofas, chairs, easy chairs to which it will confer a slender appearance. Before being marketed, the various cuts always have to undergo quality tests in order to check their quality. Strength and elasticity are considered, however the skin is appropriately treated in order to prevent the developing of mould or other defects. Moreover leather for upholstery is processed differently according to the environment it is intended for: it will actually react differently according to different temperatures.
