Splitting Service
For almost all items it is possible to request a reduction of thickness down to 0,8mm (2 oz.), this service is free and included in the price, just request it in the order notes. It is not possible to request the splitting service for leftovers, scraps and strips of leather. Split items are considered customized and are therefore not eligible for returns.

- Type of Finishing (Primary) Natural Vegetable (Full Grain)
- Finishing Description Natural Vegetable: this finishing, also known as "Crust", is characterized by a natural full grain surface that is clearly visible because the skin is left in its natural state without any kind finishing. It can be used in this state or further refined.
- Temper 4/6 Semi-Hard
- Primary Use Shoes and Footwear. This leather is suitable for shoes and footwear of all kinds, from decoltè to boots, elegant or sporty. The leather for shoes are resistant to bending and weathering.
- Secondary Use Leather Goods, Bags, Binding, Wallets. This leather is suitable for producing leather bags or purses, totes, luggage, wallets, book bindings, covers, lining and small leather goods in general.
- Other Uses Belts and Saddlery. This leather is usually characterized by a square shape and an high thickness and is suitable for the production of belts, harness and saddles for motorbikes, horse riding, bicycles etc..

Vegetable tanned natural bellies, semi-rigid firmness, ideal for sandals, tooling, small bags, insole, bag handles, leather goods and binding. This is the classical "Vachetta leather" in the not oiled version.

Vegetable tanned natural bellies: Vachetta leather (not oiled)
Vegetable tanned leather bellies require different processing than other leather parts (single or double butt, front shoulder, etc.) because they have a different shape, different top grain and a different thickness. Consequently, bellies are cut before tanning process and immersed in the drums separately. Generally leather bellies have a surface area ranging from 0.5 to 1 square meter, a length from 2 to 2,50 meters and an average width of 40 cm.
Thanks to these features, bellies are very well suitable to production of sandals and leather goods in general. Sometimes they can also be used to achieve belts or objects that require very long lengths, although thickness (1-2 mm on average, 3 mm max) can not be compared to other types of thicker leather (single or double butt, front shoulders). Finally, like any other vegetable tanned leather, they are perfect for tooling. Bellies also have a vegetable-tanned natural color and a medium temper. This leather, like all our products, is carefully selected (first grades) and comes only from the best Italian suppliers.

I ordered 6 hides and 5 of them were defective. One was 0,5m² where it was advertised as 0,75 m², three hides that were supposed to be 1° Grade had deep scratches that had occurred after tanning, and one 'B-grade' hide was so heavily scratched that less than 10% of it was useful. Customer service would not acknowledge the difference in size, and were unapologetic about the damage, claiming the products are in line with the fine print in the description. It took 5 weeks to get my refund, which had to be returned at my own expense (a very large package sent to Italy). I would not recommend this store.

we are sorry you have not been satisfied with the order but we don't agree with the review here is why: We checked well all hides returned and all of them were more then fine for the standard described on the product page, in addition all the skins were in excellent conditions and reflected the grades described on product page. the return was performed by the customer without authorization from our side (we could have covered the costs if return was made by us in case of errors) and we accepted it, and in any case the FULL amount including original shipping costs has been refunded to the customer, more then this we can't do. Sometimes is just impossible to satisfy a customer even with full refund and even if product are fine. Fortunately 99,99% of customers review shows positive feedback.

I'm quite disappointed with the customer service of Buyleatheronline. They sent the wrong items in the order, and wouldn't offer to fix it because more than 14 days had passed since delivery. Sales within the EU are actually protected by law for 2 years The customer service of Buyleatheronline tried to deny the law several times, and offered a €10 voucher for a €179.47 order. Lastly, customer service then hid my review by falsely reporting the information. Very sneaky behaviour. Please be aware that reviews are being manipulated on this site, check reviews elsewhere before buying.

The customer contacted us after 1 year from purchase and after he already used and cut the leather hide in question, pretending to have a big discount. Although we didn't have to, we offered the customer 25% compensation on the value of the piece in question, but the customer declined and resented it. We want to clarify that if the customer has used the leather and only after a year realizes that it is not good, this case does not fall within the terms of return or dispute.
