Finishing Description Semi-Aniline: this leather is similar to the one of pure aniline but it has the addition of a thin layer of pigments then covered with a transparent protective layer. Pros: good quality, uniform surface.

Type of Finishig (Secondary) Pigmented for pastel colors

Temper 4/6 Semi-Hard

Primary Use Leather Goods, Bags, Binding, Wallets. This leather is suitable for producing leather bags or purses, totes, luggage, wallets, book bindings, covers, lining and small leather goods in general.

Secondary Use Shoes and Footwear. This leather is suitable for shoes and footwear of all kinds, from decoltè to boots, elegant or sporty. The leather for shoes are resistant to bending and weathering.

Other Uses Belts and Saddlery. This leather is usually characterized by a square shape and an high thickness and is suitable for the production of belts, harness and saddles for motorbikes, horse riding, bicycles etc..

The promised thickness is 4.5oz but I've got 5.5-6oz which is way above my requirement. All around the edges the leather is useless: marks, holes, cuts are everywhere. The flash side quality also undulating, mostly acceptable. Be advised this leather truly coloured, not tanned through.

Hello Peter, thank you for the order and comment, these bellies are split at 4-5 oz. so how did you took the measurement of thickness? As regards some signs on the edge, yes for bellies it is normal since are a little more "cheaper" part as reported on the tech sheet "The bellies may sometimes have small signs or defects even on best grades" due to their nature. I cut out some pieces and measured them with my digital vernier. I can measure thickness between 2.2mm and 2.4mm. I bought another two different bellies - 267 and 149 - and they are perfect items. I can accept some imperfection of course. It seems to me this particular piece of leather having issue only. This article should not have 4.8/5 stars if all pieces same like mine.

Hello Peter, try to measure it in the central parts, because edges on bellies can be irregular sometimes since the splitting machines do not work well on those areas. And yes for some pastel colors the dye is not trough, for browns and black yes, but from the picture it should be visible, we can add this info to the description if not clear.
