Tokonole by Seiwa is a transparent cream used for finishing leather: it is designed to be used both on the split (or flesh) side of the leather and on the edges of handicraft objects such as wallets, bags and leather accessories as it compresses the fibers without leaving fluff.
Easy to work with and quick drying, Tokonole is produced only with natural waxes thanks to which it seals the fibers of the leather both on the split side and on the edges giving a smooth final appearance, moreover it can also be used as a finish for the surface of the leather . Tokonole is used by many industry professionals and leather craft lovers and is regarded as the best product of its kind; its history dates back more than half a century and has been continuously improved over the years.
Tokonole: Instructions for use
Use as a sealant for the flesh side
Apply a thin layer of Tokonole to the split side of the leather using a putty knife or burnisher making sure to smooth surface and remove excess material. When it starts to dry, rub the surface to make it smooth. The right timing to carry out this operation can be perceived by the variation of the color which from white begins to become transparent. For best results, it is recommended to polish the surface again after drying using a cotton cloth.
Use as an edge polish
Apply Tokonole with a finger or a felt pad to the edge of the leather making sure that the product does not get on the surface of the leather (clean the surface if it does). When the product begins to dry, start buffing the edge. After drying, it is recommended to rub the edge with a cotton cloth and polish it to a high shine.
Main features of Tokonole
1. Flexible and resistant coating with natural wax
Tokonole leather finish is high gloss with a natural texture and flexible top coat. The shine is guaranteed thanks to the presence of natural wax in the cream which spreads with the heat of rubbing and blends with the fibers of the skin giving elasticity.
2. Suitable for beginners
Tokonole is very easy to use and apply so that even a beginner can apply it very easily. The substances contained in Tokonole are deeply absorbed by the skin and fibers, inhibiting hair at the root.
3. Gives shine and gloss
Spread a thin layer of Tokonole on the leather and buff evenly and gently with the buffing tool, this will give a beautiful edge and back of the leather. Polishing is recommended when the product is half dry.
4. Can be used on both vegetable tanning and chrome tanning
Tokonole is suitable for use on both vegetable tanned and chrome tanned leather. The method of application is the same but the finish is different depending on the type of leather.
5. It can be dyed and can be used to repair edges
Since Tokonole is water soluble, any other finishing product, dye or pigment can be applied over it. It is also suitable for edge repairs.
