Finishing Description Natural Vegetable: this finishing, also known as "Crust", is characterized by a natural full grain surface that is clearly visible because the skin is left in its natural state without any kind finishing. It can be used in this state or further refined.

Temper 2/6 Soft

Primary Use Leather Goods, Bags, Binding, Wallets. This leather is suitable for producing leather bags or purses, totes, luggage, wallets, book bindings, covers, lining and small leather goods in general.

Secondary Use Belts and Saddlery. This leather is usually characterized by a square shape and an high thickness and is suitable for the production of belts, harness and saddles for motorbikes, horse riding, bicycles etc..

Other Uses Shoes and Footwear. This leather is suitable for shoes and footwear of all kinds, from decoltè to boots, elegant or sporty. The leather for shoes are resistant to bending and weathering.

Latigo mixed tanning leather ensures the softness of chrome tanning, but at the same time the hardening and resistance of vegetable tanning. I purchased the low grade and the hide I received exceeded my expectations. Colour was more yellow-ish compared to the pink colour in the photos. Firm, dense, and full throughout, with tight grain creasing, and with virtually no part of the hide unusable. Extremely smooth and clean on the flesh side—not at all raggy. Beautiful vegetable-tanned appearance all the way to the interior of the hide, but can withstand boiling water like a chrome-tanned hide. There was some purple staining on the grain but this was of little concern as I am using the hide for work boot uppers. I expect that the higher grades would have less staining. I will certainly be buying this leather again in the future.

Love it. Is a joy to work with, if a little odd of a shape being from the shoulders. But perfect for what I needed. Being chrome and veg tanned it has the best of qualities of both processes.
